Introduction

How are you? Welcome to my blog. In this post, I will talk about Futtun’s progress update, from Monday 14 September 2026 to today, Sunday 20 September 2026.

Keep search query in global search when moving across Futtun

#

I noticed that, if you type something in the global search bar in the header, and then navigate to a different page, Futtun loses what you typed. Not anymore.

Now, Futtun keeps your query in the global search whenever you move across pages on Futtun. I find it more user friendly.

Prevent a thought’s occurrence from being empty

I realised that you could create empty thought occurrences (no title, no description, no date when it happened), which are of questionable utility. So, I do not allow them anymore.

An occurrences must have one have either a title, a description, or a date before Futtun allows you to save it.

Improve thought occurrences list

I wanted to trial a different design for the list of objects on Futtun, and I picked the thought occurrences list.

It now displays more information for each thought occurrence: its title, description, and the date it happened, with each bit of information on a separate line. E.g.:

Improve audit actions labels

#

The list of audit actions for thoughts and entities was far from clear. Since I wanted to use the new design from the thought occurrences list (see the section above) in 2 separate places, this was a good candidate.

What I am going to say applies to the Audit Actions tab you see when viewing a thought or an entity. This list displays more information: the action, record type, and its id (all of this on the same line), and then what changed, with each change on its own line. E.g.:

Updated thought occurrence with id 4
Description changed to: "Test description"
Happened at cleared

Dependency updates

With Futtun being an Internet facing application, I will now need to keep on top of updating its dependencies for as long as I will keep Futtun available.
